Due to tighter legislation in Germany, the location of the WCG 2008 Grand Final, Entrants to the 2008 Games will have to comply with the games USK age rating.

We understand this may cause disappointment for some people, however it has been made clear that no exceptions will be made for foreign players when it comes to the Grand Final.

After the dust settled in the Warcraft III final, the Swedish hopeful SaSe was defeated by the lower bracket Ukrainian HoT, defying the Sweeds from their second Gold Medal and ensuring the UK Team the crown of European Champions! Hats off to the UK Team for a great victory at the Samsung European Championships! Final Medal Tables will follow, along with photos of the closing ceremony.

After two very close matches which were both forced into the second consolidation set, Apollo and Gruntdude have won the UK two Gold Medals in the Samsung European Championships! Apollo came from the upper bracket of the Command and Conquer 3 tournament beating Xeon from Germany in a (1-2) (2-1) heartstopper, while Gruntdude beat the Swedish player Skatenmilla after losing to him in the upper final and winning the two sets (0-3, 2-3, 3-0, 3-2, 2-3) and (3-1, 2-3, 1-3, 2-3). Two gold medals is unprecedented in UK WCG history, and shows the continent the UK is indeed in the upper eschelon of international e-sports. Congratulations to Apollo and Gruntdude!

Apollo won the first match in the Command and Conquer 3 final against Xeon. The German came back from the lower bracket after beating LeOwnzAll in the consolidation final to face off the Brit for the second time in the Samsung European Championships in a repeat of the Grand Final in Seattle at last year’s World Cyber Games Grand Final.

The second game saw Xeon rally to a victory, making the score in the first set 1-1. The German needs to win the next deciding game to push the final into a second set of best-of-3 matches.

A quick game for the third matchup of this first set saw Xeon make a quick attack suprising Apollo. The gold medal is all to play for now as the players are on a level playing field.

Three games in a row won by a remarkable turnaround see Xeon on the edge of winning the trophy, but does Apollo have an ace up his sleeve to come back?

It all comes down to this last game for the Gold Medal of the Samsung European Championship’s Command and Conquer 3 tournament. Apollo now has the upper hand coming off a win, but Xeon’s streak of 3 wins could push him to the victory.

After a day of heated battle in the Samsung European Championships, two of the UK Team have made it through to their respective Grand Finals. Apollo comes currently undefeated from the upper bracket of the Command and Conquer 3 tournament and will be playing for a €2,500 prize against either Xeon or the winner of the lower bracket final, LeOwnzAll

Gruntdude also has a shot at a €2,500 winner’s prize coming from the lower bracket of the Dead or Alive Tournament to beat THE TACTICAL 3-0 (3-0, 3-1, 3-1). He’ll be facing
Skatenmilla in a rematch of the Upper Bracket Final at 11:00 CET (10:00 GMT) for the European Trophy

After falling to Skatenmilla in the upper bracket final, Gruntdude pulled off a no-holds-barred win against THE TACTICAL in the consolidation final of the Dead or Alive 4 tournament at the Samsung European Championship. He may be coming from the lower bracket and have to win two games in the Grand Final at 11:00 CET (10:00 GMT) tomorrow morning, but the battle will certainly be as close as the last one, what with the difference between €1,500 for second place and a €2,500 winner’s purse to play for this time.

Another convincing win for Apollo in the Upper Bracket Final of Command and Conquer 3 at the Samsung European Championship. The UK Champ beat Xeon 2-0 in matches both won by a strong counter attack. Apollo now goes into the Grand Final against the winner of the consolidation playoff between Xeon and Dragonfood or LeOwnzAll which will be played at 10:00 CET (09:00 GMT) tomorrow morning. The Grand Final takes place at 11:30 CET (10:30 GMT)

In an epic battle between Gruntdude and Skatenmilla, the UK’s champion Dead or Alive 4 played was narrowly beaten in an edge-of-the-seat (2-3, 3-2, 3-0, 2-3, 2-3) match. Coming off a (3-0) loss in the third round, Skatenmilla rallied to a very tight (2-3) 4th round and came back from (2-0) to win (2-3) in the 5th. Gruntdude may be coming for revenge however if he beats THE TACTICAL in the consolidation final of the double elimination bracket at 16:30 CET (15:30 GMT)
